Cloud

Run your business on solid ground.

Move your files, email and business apps off an old server, a single desktop or USB drives and into the cloud. Back them up properly. Then you can work from anywhere, and get back on your feet faster after a theft, fire, flood or dead hard drive.

Not sure the systems underneath are the problem? Get a free review of how inquiries turn into jobs, and we’ll tell you where to start.

  • Your accounts, in your name. No lock-in.
  • A written plan with a way back for every move.
  • One fixed price in writing. Never hourly.
What the cloud does for your business

Less to look after. Less to lose.

“The cloud” just means your files, email and software live on computers run by a large provider like Microsoft, Google or Amazon, and you reach them over the internet instead of from a box in your office.

Work from anywhere

Open the same files and email from the job site, the truck, home or the office, on a laptop, tablet or phone.

No server closet

No box in the back room to keep cool, patch, and replace every few years. The provider runs the hardware.

Updates handled for you

The provider keeps its systems patched with security updates. You decide who gets access, and we set that up with you.

Pay for what you use

A monthly cost per person or per amount of storage. Add a person, add one more monthly login. Grow without buying new hardware.

Recover from a bad day

With your files in the cloud and backed up, a theft, fire, flood or dead hard drive usually costs you a device, not your files. Sign in on a new one and get back to work faster.

Everyone on the same files

One up-to-date copy that everyone works from. No more “final-v3-really-final” emailed around the office.

Cloud migration

Move off the old setup, with a way back.

Migration just means moving your files, email and apps from where they live now to where they should live. Done in stages, checked with you, and planned with a way back.

What moves

Files, email, calendars and apps

From wherever they live today:

  • An old office server, or the one desktop everyone saves to
  • USB sticks and external hard drives
  • Email on an old host or a personal account
  • Shared calendars and contacts
  • Business apps, where there’s a cloud version or a way to host them

Business files sitting in someone’s personal account get moved into accounts in the business’s name.

Where it goes

Chosen for your business, not for us

Often it’s the one you already pay for.

  • Microsoft 365 for Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and shared files
  • Google Workspace for Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Calendar
  • A cloud platform such as AWS (Amazon’s), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud, when an app or database needs a home

Every subscription is in your name, and its monthly cost is listed in the scope before anything starts.

How a move works
  1. 01 / LookSee what you have.

Where the files, email and apps live now, who uses what, and what can’t be down during the day.

  2. 02 / PlanA written plan.

What moves, in what order, the cutover date (the day you switch over), and a way back if anything goes wrong.

  3. 03 / MoveMove in stages.

A piece at a time, often after hours, so your day keeps running while the work happens.

  4. 04 / CheckCheck, then let go.

We check everything with you and show your team how it works. The old system stays read-only (you can still open it, but nothing new is saved there) until you’re sure.

Backup

Backup you can actually restore.

A backup is a second copy of your files kept somewhere else, so one bad day doesn’t take them with it. It only counts if you can get your files back from it.

We follow a simple rule called 3-2-1:

3 copies

Your working files plus two backups. One copy can fail and you still have two.

2 kinds

Kept on two different kinds of storage, say a drive in the office and the cloud, so one fault can’t ruin every copy at once.

1 off-site

At least one copy away from the office, so a fire, flood or break-in doesn’t reach it.

Automatic

It runs on a schedule by itself. Nobody has to remember to plug in a drive on Friday.

Older versions kept

If a file is deleted, overwritten, or locked by ransomware (software that scrambles your files and demands payment), you can bring back the copy from before it happened.

Tested before we call it done

We restore real files and show you they open before the job is finished.

Written down

You get a short written note: what’s backed up, where it’s kept, and how to get it back, even without us.

Syncing isn’t backup. OneDrive, Google Drive and Dropbox keep files the same everywhere, so a file deleted or scrambled on one computer can be deleted or scrambled everywhere. Their recycle bins only keep things for a limited time. We set up a separate backup and tell you plainly what each one covers.

When you need more

Your own cloud app, database or hosting.

Sometimes a business has a real need for something of its own in the cloud. Hosting just means renting space on a provider’s computers to run it. We build it when there’s a genuine requirement. For example:

Instead of five spreadsheets

A shared job database

Customers, jobs, quotes and dates in one place everyone can see, instead of copies that disagree.

For your customers

A customer portal

A private page where customers can check a job’s status, approve a quote or send photos.

For the crew

An app for the job site

Checklists, photos and notes saved from a phone straight to the office, not left in someone’s camera roll.

Often a standard tool is enough: a shared spreadsheet, a $30 tool, or something already inside Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. If so, we say so and point you to it. If building is the right call, the written scope says what it does, where it runs, what it costs each month in your name, and how you’d move it somewhere else.

Plain answers

When the cloud isn’t worth it.

Moving isn’t always the right call. Answers we’d give you:

One person, one laptop, already backed up

You may only need that backup checked, or set up properly. Nothing to migrate.

Already on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace

You may only need a separate backup and better sign-in settings, not a move.

The old setup works and stays in the office

If nobody needs it from outside and it’s backed up, moving may cost more than it saves for now.

Software that has to stay put

Some programs still need to run on a computer in the office. We tell you which parts can move and which shouldn’t.

If nothing needs changing, the answer is nothing, and we leave you alone.

The rules we work by

Your systems. Your data. Your call.

  • Your accounts, in your name. Every subscription, login and admin password belongs to you. We work as a user you can remove.
  • No lock-in. We never hold your data hostage, and we keep no copies of your files after handover. Leave, switch providers or cancel any time, and your files stay in your accounts.
  • A way back for every move. Every migration has a written plan, a cutover date, and a way back if something goes wrong.
  • Restore or it isn’t done. A backup isn’t finished until a test restore works.
  • One fixed price, in writing. Scoped before anything starts. Never hourly. Nothing starts until you say yes.
  • Monthly costs in the scope. Any subscription is listed with its cost, in your name, and paid to the provider.

Plain answers first, including “you don’t need us.” Details are in the client agreement.

Questions we get

Straight answers

Will we lose files or email during the move?

The plan is built so you don’t. We copy first, check what arrived against what was there, and go through it with you. The old system stays read-only until you’re sure, so anything that looks wrong is still there, and the plan has a way back.

Is the cloud safe?

No system is perfectly safe, and we won’t pretend otherwise. The large providers keep their systems patched and watched, which is hard to do yourself with a server in a back room. Weak passwords and fake emails are common ways in. So we give each person their own login and turn on two-step sign-in (a code on your phone as well as a password). Backup is set up separately.

What will it cost each month?

It depends on the tools and how many people use them. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace charge per person per month; storage and cloud platforms charge for what you use. Every subscription and its monthly cost is in the written scope before anything starts, in your name. Our work is one fixed price, never hourly.

Do we need IT staff afterwards?

Usually not. We set it up so everyday things, like adding a person, resetting a password or getting a file back, are things you can do, and we leave the steps in writing. If you’d rather we handle a change later, it’s scoped the same way: one fixed price, in writing.

What if we want to leave or switch providers?

Your data sits in your accounts, so it’s already yours. Leave us and you keep everything, every login included. Microsoft, Google and the cloud platforms all let you export your data, and a switch later is a migration like any other: a written plan with a way back.

How long does a move take?

It depends on how much there is and how many people use it. Moving one office’s email is a different job from moving a server that runs three apps. The written plan gives the dates, including the cutover, before anything starts.
